The International Meteor Conference (IMC 2012) of the International
Meteor Organisation (IMO) will take place in La Palma in 20-23 Sep
2012. This event is organised by Astro Travels and a local organising
committee composed of 11 international astronomy, meteors and tourism
enthusiasts. To support this action, the local isnular goverment
"Cabildo Insular de La Palma" will sponsor the event. In addition to
the meteor conference, we will include some extra optional tourist
package to allow participants and their families to fully enjoy our
"la isla bonita".

The 31st IMC will be organized on the island La Palma of the Canary
archipelago, Spain, from 20 to 23 September 2012. The standard IMC fee
is set unchanged at 155 EUR. The local organisation is coordinated by
Gabriela and Ovidiu Vaduvescu and further supported by an
international team (Geert Barentsen, Felix Bettonvil, Valentin
Grigore, Jose Madiedo, Francisco Ocana Gonzalez, Paul Roggemans and
Casper ter Kuile) and the local officials Ana Castaneda and Carlos
Fernandez representing the local "Cabildo Insular" authorities
sponsoring the event.
The exceptional location of the 2012 IMC offers plenty of extra's to
the IMC as brainstorming forum for meteor observers, researchers and
theoreticians:
This IMC precedes the 2012 EPSC which will be organized from 24
till 28 September in Madrid, Spain, on the way home from La Palma for
most participants offering both amateurs and professional astronomers
the possibility to optimize travelling efforts and costs to attend

A holiday package of 4 days will be offered by the Local
Organizing Committee preferably prior to the IMC2012 conference. Any
other requests for extra days will be treated with pleasure, just let
the LOC know about this in advance;
New moon on 16 September offers plenty of observing opportunity
under the fabulous sky of the Canary Islands;
The possibility is offered to have workshops prior to the IMC at
the same favourable conditions of the IMC;
The IMC excursion will include a visit to the three largest
telescopes of the "Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory" (ORM), offering
participants the chance to visit the "Gran Telescopio de Canarias"
(GTC), actually the largest optical telescope worldwide. Furthermore,
a visit is planned at the famous Caldera de Taburiente getting on the
edge of the caldera overlooked by the above mentioned observatories;
Travelling costs to La Palma are slightly more expensive for many IMC
participants than for past IMCs. So, the faster you register the
better for getting the best fee for a non-stop flight Madrid - La
Palma, round trip! If we would be able to know as fast as possible the
number of the participants and the countries/capital/town where the
people come from to La Palma, we would have a very good chance to get
a very convenient price for the flight Madrid - La Palma. Even, if we
would know approximated the number of potential participants and their
respective countries of departure, it would be a huge help in getting
the best flight offers.

l'excursion de l'IMC incluera une visite a l'un des trois plus grands
telescopes du "Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory" (ORM), permettant au
participants d'avoir la chance voir "Gran Telescopio de Canarias" (GTC), qui
est actuellement le plus grand telescope optique du monde. De plus, une
visite de la celebre Caldera de Taburiente, en allant sur le bord de cette
caldera surplombee par les observatoires evoques ci-dessus, est prevue;

rapidement possible le nombre de participants et les pays/capitales/villes
de depart des vols des personnes pour La Palma, nous aurions plus des chances
d'obtenir des prix raisonnables pour le vol Madrid - La Palma. Sinon, si
vous connaissez approximativement le nombre potentiel de participants et
leur pays de depart respectifs, ce serait un outil enorme pour nous

Esta IMC precede al European Planetary Sciences Congress (EPSC), que se
celebra del 24 al 28 de septiembre en Madrid, Espana; ciudad habitual de

El Comite de Organizacion Local (LOC) ofrecerq un paquete vacacional de 4
dias, preferentemente en las fechas previas al IMC2012. Otras peticiones para
mas dias extra seran tambien atendidas gustosamente, siendo tan solo necesario

Se ofrece la posibilidad de tener workshops previos al IMC en las mismas
condiciones de la conferencia.
La excursion del IMC incluira la visita a los tres mayores telescopios
del "Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos" (ORM), incluyendo el "Gran
Telescopio Canarias" (GTC), el mayor telescopio pptico del mundo. Ademas
se visitara la famosa Caldera de Taburiente, llegandose al borde de la
caldera bajo la mirada de los telescopios mencionados.
Los costes de viaje a La Palma son ligeramente mayores que para IMC previas
para muchos participantes. Por eso se recomienta registrarse cuanto antes
para conseguir los billetes entre Madrid y La Palma mas baratos. Para poder
ofrecer precios ventajosos en dicho trayecto nos gustaria conocer cuanto
antes el numero de participantes y sus países/ciudades de partida hacia
La Palma. Podemos ayudar a conseguir las mejores ofertas para los vuelos
solo con conocer un numero aproximado de participantes potenciales y sus
