Slovak Expedition in La Palma and Tenerife 2014

Between 2 and 8 April 2014, four Slovak astronomers participated in a scientific expedition to observe meteors from Tenerife (Teide Observatory) and La Palma (Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory). The project leader was Dr. Juraj Toth and the team included also the astronomers Pavel Zigo, Leonard Kornos and Josef Vilagi, all from Comenius University, Bratislava, Slovakia. The expedition was organized by Astro Travels in collaboration with the two observatories and the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias (IAC).

Two all sky AMOS video cameras built in Slovakia were brought and installed by the four astronomers to observe during 7 nights in the two stations, including 5 night in double station (the separation of about 145 km between the two islands being ideal for meteor observations). The aim was double, namely to observe the new "Pribram-Neuschwanstein" possible meteor shower and to test the feasibility to eventually install in the future a permanent AMOS station in the Canary Islands. Some pictures follow here:

Dr. Juraj Toth, leader of the expedition: "Our seven night (5 double station) observations were successful and we had very good weather and hospitality conditions. Thank you a lot!"
